Yes, The Jazzhaus originally opened as a Private Club. It was the only way that Kansans could serve, and purchase liquor by the drink. We remained that way until the General Election of 1992, when the fine citizens of Douglas County voted to eliminate the ridiculous, and ultimately unenforceable, private club system.
